The Barossa Region in South Australia where vines were first planted in 1847 is famous for the fifty plus estates producing delicious red and white wine from local grapes. The most popular are shiraz and riesling wines although more and more varieties are being introduced over the years. There is much else to do besides vineyard tours and tasting the Barossa Vintage Festival has become world famous and every year thousands of people flock to attend it from places all over the world.

The Hunter Valley in New South Wales is known for its many delicious varieties of wine, especially Semillon, Shiraz and several different Chardonnays. A number of wineries have established signature restaurants in addition to opening their cellar doors for wine tasting a trip to a vineyard these days is a great deal more than simply purchasing a bottle of wine.

Yarrah Valley in Victoria is one of Australia's oldest wine regions and has been winning international medals for its fine wines for over a century.
